Teresa Staal-Cowley

My brief bio is that I have created and been passionate for the arts my entire life. I began taking art classes when I was ten at the South Bay Art Association. Continued studying art at Adams junior high, Redondo Union high school, Advertising Design/Illustration/Typography at the Southern California Regional Occupational Center in my senior year of high school. As an adult  , Fine Art, Art History, Calligraphy at El Camino College, Illustration/Design at the San Diego Art Institute, Prior Learning from Experience at The Evergreen State College creating a document called The Art of Therapy, and Washington State TAT (Teaching Artists Training) Lab.

My philosophy as an artist is to create art and teach art that brings hope and healing and teaches academics in a beautiful way. I have taught art to residents in Low Income Housing and Assisted Living. to children whose first language is not English, children in foster care, adults struggling with addictions and mental health. I have organized art installations at hospitals, courthouses, government buildings, and churches. I enjoy living a creative life with family and friends and community.
